Job Description:

Member of Technical Staff — Data Security Platform

Location: San Jose, CA (On-site)

Type: Full-time

Role Context

Our client is building a cloud-native data security platform that enforces real-time data access governance across modern data ecosystems (Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure). As enterprise data footprints scale, organizations require continuous visibility into who can access sensitive data, how it is used, and where risk emerges.

We are hiring a Member of Technical Staff to design and implement core platform capabilities that analyze access patterns, classify sensitive data, and detect anomalous or risky behaviors at scale. This role sits within the platform engineering layer — building distributed services that operate across heterogeneous cloud data environments.

This is a product-building role focused on scale, performance, and security semantics — not application maintenance.

What You Will Own

  • Design and implementation of distributed services for data access monitoring and governance
  • Real-time and batch pipelines processing large-scale access and metadata signals
  • Platform components for data classification, discovery, and policy enforcement
  • Detection logic for anomalous or high-risk data access patterns
  • Integration with cloud data platforms and identity/control planes
  • Performance and scalability of platform services across enterprise datasets
  • Engineering rigor across testing, deployment, and reliability

Platform Environment

You will operate in a modern cloud-native stack characterized by:

  • Distributed microservices in cloud environments
  • Large-scale metadata and event processing
  • Data warehouse and lakehouse integrations
  • Security and governance enforcement layers
  • AI-assisted engineering workflows

Required Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years building production software systems
  • Strong development in Go, Python, Java, or C++
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Experience building scalable backend or platform services
  • Familiarity with cloud architectures and data platforms
  • Ability to design and deliver features end-to-end

Preferred Experience

  • Data security, access governance, or compliance platforms
  • Data engineering or large-scale data processing systems
  • Snowflake, Databricks, or cloud data ecosystems
  • GenAI / LLM integration in platform features
  • Event-driven architectures or streaming systems

Measures of Success

Within the first 6–12 months, this role will:

  • Deliver scalable platform services integrated with major data ecosystems
  • Improve fidelity and performance of access visibility signals
  • Enable reliable detection of anomalous data access patterns
  • Reduce platform latency and processing overhead
  • Strengthen data governance enforcement capabilities

Why This Role Exists

Enterprises cannot secure what they cannot observe. This role builds the core platform intelligence that allows organizations to continuously understand and control data access risk across cloud data environments.
