Position Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an Intellectual Property & Commercial Litigation Associate to join its growing litigation practice. This role focuses on complex business and IP disputes, including contract litigation, business torts, and intellectual property matters.

The associate will work closely with experienced litigators across multiple offices and will gain substantive responsibility in all phases of litigation, from pleadings through trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in commercial and intellectual property litigation matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests/responses
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and case strategy analyses
• Manage document review and discovery processes
• Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
• Support trial preparation and case management
• Advise clients on litigation risk and dispute resolution strategy
• Collaborate with partners and cross-office litigation teams
• Maintain organized case files and meet litigation deadlines

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of commercial litigation experience
• Experience with IP disputes (trademark, copyright, trade secret, or related) preferred
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Experience drafting substantive litigation documents
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
• Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
• Law firm litigation experience preferred

Bar & Professional Requirements

• Active bar membership in at least one of the listed jurisdictions
  • DC, PA, TX, NY, or FL

• Ability to obtain admission in additional office jurisdictions if required
• Compliance with applicable CLE and professional responsibility requirements
• Eligibility for firm malpractice coverage
• Successful conflicts and background review

Preferred Experience

• Federal court litigation experience
• IP litigation exposure (trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition)
• Commercial contract disputes and business torts
• Deposition and hearing participation
• Experience with e-discovery platforms and litigation technology
